Biography

Ma艂gorzata gained an MA in Biology (2006) at the University of Szczecin in Poland, where she investigated differences between mitochondrial genomes amongst several lines of triticale (X Triticosecale Wittmack).听During her MA she has also gained research experience in the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Germany where she contributed to the research project:听鈥欌橧dentification of novel nodule-induced transporter genes in the model legume,听L japonicus鈥.

In 2006 Ma艂gorzata joined the 天美传媒官方网站 Institute for Translational Medicine at 天美传媒官方网站 where she obtained an MSc in Biomedical Science (2009). Her thesis was on 鈥欌橳he effect of knocking out preprodynorphin gene on 脽-cell morphology鈥欌.听She was also awarded a DPhil in Biomedical Science (2014). Her PhD thesis was entitled 鈥欌橳he impact of maternal over-nutrition and maternal obesity on the development of obesity in the offspring鈥欌.

Since 2014 Ma艂gorzata has been working as a Research Fellow at the BITM听towards discovery of novel therapeutic targets (e.g. G-protein-coupled receptors, cannabinoid receptors) for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes and understanding of the molecular mechanisms of these diseases.听 Ma艂gorzata utilises a range of听in vivo听补苍诲听in vitro听methods and specialises especially in molecular biology techniques, particularly gene expression.听She has also experience in supervision of students conducting lab-based scientific projects and is a Personal Tutor for medical students.
